Celebrating the Crochet Designers Who Inspire ME!
If you’ve been part of the crochet world for a while, you know that certain designers leave a lasting impression on us, shaping not only our skills but also our love for the craft. Today, I want to take a moment to celebrate some of the incredible crochet designers who have inspired me and countless others. These designers have contributed so much to the crochet community, and their work continues to push the boundaries of what we can create with a simple hook and yarn.
First, let’s talk about Melissa Leapman. Not only is Melissa a renowned crochet (and knitting) designer, but she’s also been my mentor throughout my crochet journey. Her designs are timeless, yet innovative, and her ability to break down complex techniques into easy-to-follow instructions has made her a favorite among crocheters at all skill levels. Melissa’s books and patterns have been a huge source of inspiration for me, and I’m so grateful for her guidance over the years. Her teaching style is approachable and encouraging, which is exactly what makes her such a beloved figure in the crochet world. Visit Melissa at https://melissaleapman.com/
Another designer I admire is Margaret Hubert. Margaret has been a powerhouse in the crochet community for decades, with numerous books and patterns that continue to inspire crocheters everywhere. Her versatility is incredible—she’s written about everything from granny squares to freeform crochet, and her willingness to experiment with different techniques has opened up so many possibilities for others. What I love most about Margaret’s work is how she invites us to think outside the box and embrace creativity, showing us that crochet is an art form that can always evolve. Plus, she is a good friend too! See Margaret’s work here: https://www.ravelry.com/designers/margaret-hubert
And of course, I can’t forget Terry Kimbrough, my very first mentor way back in 1998. Terry’s delicate and intricate lacework has left an indelible mark on the crochet world. Her designs are timeless, elegant, and have a certain magic to them that makes you want to crochet them again and again. Terry was the first to really encourage me on my crochet path, and I’ll always be thankful for the way she nurtured my passion for design. Her patterns remain popular to this day, proving that beauty and artistry never go out of style. See Terry’s work here https://www.ravelry.com/sources/search#designs-by=Terry+Kimb…
