š§¶ Why I Design and Teach Crochet
Share
(Hint: Itās About More Than Just Stitches)
Thereās something magical about watching a crochet idea come to life.
Sometimes it starts as a quick sketch in the margins of my notebook or a color combo that grabs my attention in a yarn shop. Other times, itās a texture I canāt stop thinking about or a stitch pattern that begs to be turned into socks, a shawl, or something totally new.
Designing patterns is my creative playground. I love the challenge of figuring out construction, shaping, and stitch flowābut what really fills me up is watching that idea move from my mind, through my hook, and into something tangible. Something that you can make and wear and feel proud of.
But if Iām honest? The best part of this work isnāt just the makingāitās the teaching.
Thereās nothing quite like seeing someoneās face light up when they finally āgetā something. That quiet āaha!ā moment when a studentās confidence shifts. The joy of someone completing their first pair of socksāespecially if they never thought they could. Those are the moments that stick with me.
Whether Iām designing a new pattern, filming a class, or answering a question in Crochet Crew, it all comes back to the same thing: I love helping crocheters feel more confident, more capable, and more creative.
Because crochet isnāt just about yarn and stitches. Itās about progress. Possibility. And joy.
