Starting The Year With Personal Projects

Happy New year everyone! I hope your holidays were terrific!

When I took time off from December 22, 2021-January 2, 2022, my plan was to stay away completely from working and start working on some projects that I kept putting aside because of crochet projects I needed to get done for patterns I was releasing this year.

What I didn’t expect, however, was to have temps in the teens and single digits (and even below 0 one night) that caused me to explode into a head cold.. (that’s a story for another day) But that head cold caused me to take another week off and actually work on some personal projects.

Since crochet is what I do all day long every day, I wanted to take some time to actually knit! I don’t get to do that as much!

The first thing I did was cast on a pair of socks. I accidentally tossed two pairs of my hand-knit socks in the dryer and felted them! YIKES!!!

Yarn is by Round Table Yarns. She no longer dyes yarn otherwise I would have a link for you.

I also cast on the 2nd pair of socks, which are for a travel project only. This stays in my purse and goes with me from doctor appointment to doctor appointment – and anywhere else I might be sitting and waiting a while.

This yarn is also from Round Table Yarns.

The last project I cast on is the Sherwood Sweater from Kimberly McAlindin. Kimberly is an old friend and when I saw this pattern I had to make it. I love Sweaters with a V neckline.

The main color for the sweater is Fyberspates Vivacious DK in the color Mixed Magentas. The colorwork is done in Schoppel Edition 3 in color #2298. I LOVE how it is turning out so far!

I am sure you will see these projects pop up again here on the blog as well as on my Instagram.

Did you start a new project for 2022? Drop me a note in the comments and let me know!

  1. I decided to CO a pair of knit socks myself. We are in the midst of buying a house, remodeling, and prepping for a move, so I needed something mindless. Once I finish the toe, I’ll just have mindless stockinette in the round for a while. Love the colors of your sweater! I plan to learn color work next.
