New Pattern Coming: Sunset
Inspired by the gorgeous colors of a Pacific Northwest evening, Sunset is a stunner of a shawl. The pattern repeat is easy to memorize, and because you are working from side to side, you can easily adjust the length and depth of the shawl by adding or removing repeats. Pick a yarn that has some bling for a night on the town – or for a running-errands look, add a bit of splash with a gorgeous gradient or variegated. Your options are endless!
This pattern is written in US terminology.
Recommended Yarn
Sunset was designed in Sock Obsession Yarns Resilient Smooth Sock. However, any fingering weight yarn that has a lot of drape can be used.
Techniques and Difficulty
Sunset incorporates the following crochet techniques:
- Basic stitches (chain, single crochet, double crochet)
Construction
Sunset is a side-to-side shawl that allows you to make both the main field and the edging at the same time. I love this construction type because when you finish the shawl, all you have to do is weave in ends and block. Also if you have a limited amount of yarn, you can easily see how fast the yarn is being used up and it will allow you to easily customize if you think you won’t have enough yarn to finish. (see next point)
Customization
You can adjust the width of Sunset by adding/subtracting a multiple of 4 increase rows then adding/subtracting the same number of the multiple of 4 decrease rows.
