New Pattern Coming: Mint Julip
Mint Julep will give you your quick pop of spring! Worked side-to-side – including the edging, this simple 8-row repeat shawl is fast and fun to make. Simple lace on the edge looks harder than it really is- but that is our secret! Use tonal, variegated, speckles, or any other colors you want. And if you want to change up the yarn weight, you can do that too. The options are endless.
This pattern is written in US terminology.
Recommended Yarn
Mint Julip was designed in HauteKnitYarn Jimmy Sock. However, any fingering weight yarn that has a lot of drape can be used.
Techniques and Difficulty
Mint Julip incorporates the following crochet techniques:
- Basic stitches (chain, single crochet, double crochet)
Construction
Mint Julip is a side-to-side shawl that allows you to make both the main field and the edging at the same time. I love this construction type because when you finish the shawl, all you have to do is weave in ends and block. Also if you have a limited amount of yarn, you can easily see how fast the yarn is being used up and it will allow you to easily customize if you think you won’t have enough yarn to finish. (see next point)
Customization
You can adjust the width of Mint Julip by adding/subtracting a multiple of 8 increase rows then adding/subtracting the same number of the multiple of 8 decrease rows.
