New Pattern Coming: Elementary

Made from side to side, this bandit-style shawl will become one of your go-to favorites! Perfect for hand-dyed yarn, you will crochet up the plain center field first, and then without cutting the yarn add the six-row edging. Pick tonal, gradient, long striping … the choices are endless!

This pattern is written in US terminology.

Elementary was designed in Schmutzerella Yarns Spectacular. However, any fingering weight yarn that has a lot of drape can be used.

Techniques and Difficulty

Elementary incorporates the following crochet techniques:

  • Basic stitches (chain, single crochet, double crochet)

Elementary is a side-to-side shawl. First, you work the main field and then add the edging later, all without cutting the yarn.

You can adjust the width of Elementary by adding/subtracting increase rows then adding/subtracting the same number of decrease rows. However, you will have to do some math to get the edging to work out correctly.
