If you regularly read my newsletter, you know that one of my goals for 2022 is self-education. There are so many techniques I haven’t done in a very long time, and don’t use that often anymore. There are also new and more expanded techniques that I haven’t taken the time to start learning again.
As I was planning the year as I normally do in the fall, I was feeling a strong pull to go back and study some of these again. As I looked at what I have on tap for this, I thought that it would be fun to share with you what I am learning and re-learning. I have no timetable though I am going to try to keep each new technique as close to one month as I can.
There are months that I will be releasing a new pattern, in those months you may see a break one week from the series on whatever topic I am talking about to tell you about that pattern and give you your discount code! (Newsletter Subscribers always get 25% off new pattern releases) So every so often I am going to go into the next month to cover whatever technique I am working on. I feel that learning is a process, and I don’t want to rush it.
I have all sorts of things that I am going to re-learn or try for the first time this year. I have books on my shelves that I may have cracked open when I got them but have never used. It’s time to wear out those spines and learn more. I have so many youTube Videos tagged as watch later that I might spend 2 full years just watching videos! (I kid, but there are a lot of them!)
I am so excited to start with my first topic next week – Mosaic Crochet! This is something that I tried in the late 1990s when Lily Chin’s book, Mosaic Magic – Afghans Made Easy, came out. Since then, I haven’t done much with it and there are so many new techniques in Mosaic Crochet that I think it is time to go back and revisit!
What I hope will happen with these posts is that I will inspire you to try new techniques – or maybe ignite an urge to go back to something you haven’t done in a while. I know for me, when I am learning I am growing and my creativity is sparked. You never know what sort of patterns may come out of learning something like this!
I cannot wait to get started, and I hope that you might join me on this journey. I already have 4 topics in mind to start the year, even though my list is LONG, but I would love to hear the topics you would like to explore too! They just might get added to my ever-growing list!
What techniques in crochet would you like to learn this year?
Let me know in the comments! I would love to know what skills you would like to arm yourself with.
