Wheat Sheaf StitchThis is a great beginner pattern stitch for clothing, bags and scarves.

Chain a multiple of 5 + 2 (for square ch 22)

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next ch, ch 3; * sk next 2 chs, sc in next 3 chs, ch 3; rep from * across to last 2 chs; sc in last 2 chs.  Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in first sc; * 5 dc in next ch-3 sp, sk next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * across. Ch 3, turn. (Ch 3 counts as 1st hdc and ch-1 sp in next row)

Row 3:  Sk next dc, sc in next 3 dc; * ch 3, sk next 3 st, sc in next 3 dc; rep from * across to last 2 st, ch 1, hdc in last sc. Ch 3, turn.

Row 4:  2 dc in next ch 1 sp, sk next sc, sc n next sc; * 5 dc in next ch-3 sp, sk next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * across to next ch-1 sp; 2 dc in next ch 1 sp, dc in last hdc. Ch 1, turn.

Row 5:  sc in first 2 dc, ch 3; * sk next 3 st, sc in next 3 dc, ch 3; rep from * across to last 5 st; sk next 3 st, sc in last 2 dc. Ch 1, turn.

Row 6:  sc in first sc; * 5 dc in next ch 3 sp, sk next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * across; ch 3, turn. (Ch 3 counts as 1st hdc and ch-1 sp in next row)

Repeat Rows 3-6 for pattern ending with an odd numbered row.
